BLACK PEARL COTTAGE
The typically narrow lakefront site for this new 1,600 SF cottage is tied to its neighbors by a beautiful allee of oak trees. To take advantage of this view, the pinwheel plan maximizes views to the lake from every part of the interior. The roof, rotated against the plan to maintain a comfortable alignment with neighboring houses, creates a spatially complex open loft. The client, for whom we had designed a master bedroom suite on the ground floor, chose instead to move into the loft space to enjoy its dynamic, light-filled spaces. |
