HYNES CONVENTION CENTER CANOPY
The canopy of Hynes Convention Center in Boston is a bold form placed at the entrance of a magnificently long façade. Attracting attention to the entrance, the canopy is shaped to the interior of the arch in which it is placed, and made to cantilever over forty feet from the stone walls that support it. The ultra-thin tubular steel scopes out to meet the edges of the glass, and gather forces like spokes of a wheel onto the plate steel hubs that transfer the heavy weight of the canopy to the wall. Ms. Jones designed the canopy while working for Kallmann McKinnell Wood.
